Configuring rendering options

For most publishing jobs, the basic options of the rendering profile that is assigned to the job are sufficient. When they are not sufficient, rendering options can be configured on a per document basis. These are properties of the source documents that contain the values for the rendering options. In this way, the settings are independent of the rendering profiles that are used to generate the renditions and the settings can be specific to each document.

Note    We recommend that you use the properties in the Rendition Properties property set for this purpose.

To configure the rendering options:

  1. In Meridian Enterprise Server Configurator, in the Data Exchange group, click Jobs. The All Jobs page appears and lists the existing publishing jobs. The jobs are grouped by the name of the computer (cluster node) to which they have been assigned.
  2. Double-click the publishing job that you want to configure. The Overview page appears.
  3. On the menu, click RENDERING. The Rendering page appears.
  4. In the page header, click SETTINGS. A page that lists the mappable rendering options appears.
  5. Click options or type values using the descriptions in the following table.

Note    Some of the options in the following table are only available for specific rendering profiles.

MISCELLANEOUS group

Use existing rendition

If enabled, prevents unnecessary re-rendering of vault documents. The existing rendition will be published instead if it is up to date.

Include redlines in rendition

If enabled, source document redlines are published to the destination system.

Publish unrendered

If enabled, publishes the source document in its native format if the document's file extension has not been configured in the rendering options of any rendering profile.

Use the next rendering profile if rendering fails

If enabled, allows failover rendering by a different rendering profile if a document cannot be rendered by the desired profile due to unavoidable errors. For example, if a drawing fails to render using the AutoCAD rendering module and the number of retries has been exceeded, the job can be retried using a profile with the AutoVue rendering module.

To set the order in which rendering profiles will be attempted, see the preceding step.

Note    If rendering fails with any module and the next module is tried, the text _RETRYRENDER_<ModuleName>_ will be passed in the publishOptions arguments described in PublisherSourceEvent_AfterPublish event and PublisherDestinationEvent_AfterPublish event.
